Your dream may not be far from coming true. The skills acquisition center set up by the Governor Raji Fashola under the aegis of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) provide this training’s for free. This is a measure to curb the high rate of unemployment in the country and a platform for women empowerment. The training center are located in different parts of the state, Surulere, Mushin etc

The duration of the training depends on the skill you want to acquire. Here is the training schedule

• Fashion designing – 12months
• Catering and Event planning – 9 months.
• Hair dressing and make up – 9 months.
• Hats and beads / textile n craft – 6 months
• Barbing – 6 months
• Photography – 6 months
• Computer appreciation – 6months

At the end of the training the beneficiaries are expected to go for Industrial training with a relevant organization so as to gain practical, on the job experience. After this is done, a certificate of competency and completion is awarded to the student. If you are currently unemployed you may consider acquiring some of these skills that puts you in a position to be self reliant. How to get enrolled in the training school. Obtain a form from one of the centers, total registration cost is 1500. You will need the following

• Two recent passport photograph
• Two recent passport photograph of your guarantor.
• Photocopy of your LASRAA registration.
