The Health Innovation Challenge is a multi-stage competition that will recognise, reward and celebrate innovations that show potential to improve health in Nigeria. Prizes will go both to the implementation of innovations as well as to reward innovators’ for their grand efforts.

How do I enter the Challenge?

If you want to improve health in Nigeria and have a bold way to do it, visit the NHIM portal and respond to one of the problem tracks. These have been developed consultatively with stakeholders and reflect the healthcare challenges faced across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
STAGE 02
What happens after you scale through the first round?
Your innovation will be assessed by a team of experts. if it meets the requirements, we will invite you to the business proposal stage. You will submit a detailed business plan that demonstrates the social/commercial viability of your innovation. You will get support to prepare this during a business development boot camp.
STAGE 03
The last Lap
At this stage you will have the chance to pitch your innovation to a panel of Nigerian industry “dragons” made up of medics, techies, academics and investors. could yours be the innovation that wins US 100,000 dollars.

Disbursements
Disbursements of awards will be done in a results-focused manner that links payment tranches to achievement of critical milestones of the development, pilot or scaling process and performance in healthcare indices.
WHAT ARE THE PROBLEM STATEMENTS?
A problem statement is a concise description of tropical and contextual health challenges in Nigeria. Problem statements have been developed through extensive consultation with key actions in all six geo-political zones. These include the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Center for Health Market Innovations, Saving One Million Lives Initiative and several private sector companies. Problems statements for 2015 include service delivery challenges as well as broader health systems and global health issues. The challenge allows individuals, teams, organisations and consortia to problem-solve and pilot their innovation in real-time, in a context-sensitive manner.
