An M.Sc position is now available in the field of plant physiology, biochemistry and horticulture science within the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, Department of Plant Sciences. Low light tolerant crops will be increasingly important in the greenhouse industry to reduce energy needs and decrease costs of production. These crops will also be critical to expanding local food security under greater urbanization as well as in northern regions where the main limiting factor to indoor food production is light. The individual will focus on screening for low light tolerant vegetable crops, conduct trait evaluation and identify markers for low light tolerant horticultural crops which will involve pigment and photosynthetic characterization.

The M.Sc student will be paid a stipend of no less than $21,000 CAD per year at the University of Saskatchewan. Students are also encouraged to apply for the many scholarship opportunities available. Student development and international experience are considered important steps to successful careers. The students will participate in all expenses paid short term exchange program with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, As, Norway and have opportunities to present his/her work at conferences.
