In a study called “The Future of Education” organized by the Millennial Branding, a Gen Y research and consulting firm,
and Internships.com – a massive internship jobs board, it was reported that 50 percentage of student said they didn’t need a classroom setting to get an education.
That is why, as young professionals, we can pick up new skills whenever we are less busy, skills that would be very beneficial to us. In today’s economy, you have to be a lifelong learner because that’s the only way you are going to stay relevant to the marketplace and thereby become indispensable
Here comes the question “where do we go to stay smart and be on top?”. I have complied a list of the top 5 learning sites.
1. Coursera
Coursera is an educational company that partners with top universities and organizations in the world to offer courses online for free. Their technology enables their partners to teach millions of students rather than hundreds.
2.Udemy
Udemy helps students make moves. Whether they want to get promoted, break into a new industry, start a company, further a passion, or just accelerate their life, Udemy help students learn from the amazing instructors in the world, so that they can achieve their goals and ambitions.
3.MIT Open Courseware
Through OCW(open courseware), educators improve courses and curricula, making schools more effective; students find additional resources to help them succeed; and independent learners enrich their lives and use the content to tackle some of our world’s most difficult challenges, including sustainable development, climate change, and cancer eradication.
4.Lynda
You can learn about anything on Lynda, it has great collections of educational videos ranging from science, arts, economics, to about anything. By paying a little fee, you can have access to as many videos as you want and maybe able to download them.
5.CMU Open Learning Initiative
The Open Learning Initiative (OLI) is a grant-funded group at Carnegie Mellon University, offering innovative online courses to anyone who wants to learn or teach. Their aim is to create high-quality courses and contribute original research to improve learning and transform higher education.
