Senior secondary school students in Nigeria are invited to submit entries in the 2013 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition in Nigeria. The first, second and third prize winners will receive N1,000,000.00, N750,000.00 and N500,000.00 in educational grants respectively. The essay contest is being put together by the UBA Foundation, the corporate Social Responsibility arm of UBA Group as part of its contributing to helping talented Nigerian students get quality education on the bill of the company.
The essay competition, known as ‘UBA Foundation National Essay Competition in Nigeria’, is accepting entries until the end of October 2013.

How to Participate
Submit a handwritten essay on the topic “How Reading has Impacted my Knowledge” and send it to the UBA Foundation office in Lagos. The UBA foundation office address in Marina, Lagos can be reached through UBA House, 57 Marina, P.O. Box 2406, Lagos, Nigeria.
Eligibility
You should normally be registered in a senior secondary school in Nigeria.
Selection Procedure
At the end of October 2013 when entries close, three renowned Nigerian Professors will review the entries and select an initial shortlist for further assessment.
Deadline: November 1, 2013. You are advised to send your entry early so that it can reach them by the end of October or latest November 1, 2013. You could use a courier service to send it if you are late.
Tips:
- Try to write legibly: Since entries are handwritten, your handwriting must be legible to whoever will mark it
- Personalize your entry: Since the topic is specific about How Reading has Impacted my Knowledge, write about ways you have acquired knowledge and how that has impacted you positively. Don’t be abstract or general.
- Justify your points: Give as many logical reasons as possible
- Finally, do not miss the deadline!
