AFRICAN VARSITIES PARTNER ON DEVELOPMENT

SIX African universities have entered into partnership to develop effective economic framework for the continent and her people.

Operating under the aegis of “U Six”, the universities believe that consortium efforts rather than individual endeavour is required to turn around for better the fortunes of Africa described as the world’s second largest continent.

The universities, which started their two-day inaugural conference yesterday at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete in Moro Local Government Area of the state, are: Universities of Ilorin, Cape Coast Ghana, Cape Peninsula, Cape Town in South Africa, Bondo, Kenya, Banjul Gambia and the host, KWASU.

The theme of the conference is “Health, Science and Humanity Transformation for Sustainable African Development”.

Lauding the initiatives of the universities, Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, who was the special guest of honour at the event, described the collaboration as long overdue, just as he canvassed more universities of similar beliefs to join in the vision.
